One year later. Some days Jun Ho seems better. Some days she is in an intensive care unit, incoherent, kept alive by a tangle of tubes connected to machines. Leaving the hospital, Min walks by the sea. He thinks of his family - all lost in the war when he was still young. He thinks of his youngest brother who he never saw - given up for adoption just before the end of the war. Staring across the empty tide flats to the sea, he wonders if he could go to America and find this lost brother.
